Travesty Intro

This is my 3rd semester in the EdTech program.  I took 2 courses Summer 2011, 4 courses Fall 2011, and I'm doing 4 more courses this semester.  Needless to say I'm doing school full-time and substitute teaching to earn some dinero.  Before I became a full time student again I taught high school history and PE for 3 years.  My first year teaching was in Pleasant Grove, Utah where I was the cross country assistant coach. The last 2 school years I taught at Bear Lake High School in Montpelier, Idaho and I coached freshman girls basketball and was the varsity assistant.

I'm currently living in Logan, Utah and glad to be back.  I met my wife while going to school in Logan at Utah State University and I've been married for 7 years.  Family is very important to me. We have two beautiful boys (4 years old & 1 year old) who keep us busy.  We love the opportunities we have here compared to the small rural life in Idaho. My oldest son was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes when he was 2 and we have learned to live a lifestyle to help manage his disease.  We also started a charity 5k to help raise money to find a cure for diabetes:  http://idahocrazypancreas5k.blogspot.com/

I'm really enjoying everything I'm learning in the EdTech program and I can't wait to finish school again and start teaching again. I really love multimedia, especially as it pertains to education.  In high school I took the "Video Productions" course all 3 years advancing myself to produce the morning announcements every morning (which seemed like a big deal at the time).  I really want to learn how I can better utilize multimedia as a tool for education. I'm looking forward to working with all of you this semester. I embedded an intro video to me I created a few months ago showing a recap of the past 27 years.

  1. Hi Travis,
I enjoyed your video! You have a lovely family. I think it is wonderful that you started a charity to help find a cure for diabetes. My mom has seen what people with Type I diabetes go through. She trains diabetic alert dogs and has placed many dogs with children as well as adults. It is such a bad disease for a young child to have to cope with. I wish you well with your charity!

  2. Hi Travis,
I also enjoyed your video. What a great looking family you have. I'm a Michigan guy, born and raised, but I had the good fortune to spend some time over a couple summers in Utah producing video content during a field geology course with a professor at my university. It was a great experience, and I fell in love with Utah. Looking forward to getting back there again soon. My mom suffered the effects of type 2 diabetes for many years before she passed away. Your work to help support research aimed at curing this horrible disease is wonderful. I must say I can't wrap my head around the idea of taking four EDTECH courses at once. More power to you!
