Free Inquiry, Rational Discourse, Skepticism - Web 2.0

Why 513?
Although I have completed my portfolio and have, furthermore, fulfilled the requirements for the M.E.T. degree, I deduced that without having undergone Ed Tech 513, the degree would have fallen short of its potential. So, therefore, I am happy to be enrolled in this course and have no regrets with regard to extending my period of study by one semester.

Web 2.0 in Perspective:

My interests include the history of thought and the potential of the interactive feedback loop of knowledge and understanding made possible by Web 2.0. In that I am a student of the Enlightenment tradition, I am also of the opinion that recent developments in technology constitute a flowering of this convention to the degree that learning and the distribution of information has become interactive. This was recently exemplified when Wikipedia and Google engaged in a monumental protest against government censorship of the web. It appears that through their efforts, the SOPA legislation was halted. In other words, Web 2.0 has effectively created a format by which users can actively challenge presumptive authorities of tradition. We no longer receive our news from Cronkite, Brinkley and Chancellor, but, rather, can access a host of news sources which presents information after which having been viewed can be commented upon by simply logging in and joining an appended discussion forum.
I find all of this absolutely fascinating and am privileged to be engaged in the Tech movement!

  1. I think it's great that you stayed on another semester to take this class. I was originally signed up in another class, but I am already grateful I switched.
