Hello from MelissaM

Every time I look at the available electives for EdTech at Boise State I always choose different ones depending on my mood.  Only one course appears on every list of courses I've desperately wanted to take and that is Multimedia.  I'm very interested in livening up the presentation of course content to attempt to engage students who are really just not interested in learning history.  I think history courses need to be more accessible and explored at a different level than just memorizing names, dates, and battles.  I think the stories can become much more personal, the decisions much more relevant, and the material much more interactive.

I think redesigning the content and presenting it in more lively, original ways can make it more engaging to even the most bored students.  I want to give students the opportunity to explore topics in ways they feel most comfortable, then try new methods and gain skills using technology in a learning environment.

I'm looking forward to learning more about how to use the latest tools of the trade so that I can create more exciting and involving lessons that will actively engage students and get them to really begin thinking about the lifestyles, problems, and decisions made in cultures very different from their own.  The more ways students can interact with the material, the more they can make the knowledge their own.
