Rob Straby's Intro

Since 1997 I have designed, developed or co-developed a range of courses across the CDP program. The online content has been primarily created in a ‘text-based’ format. My assessment of student needs is that the learning process could be enhanced through the addition of multimedia content. I am planning to create material for my current courses from what I learn in this course. Here are the outcomes I am hoping for this term. These involve applying what I do in EdTech 513 directly to two of my current courses:

1.     That 50% of the content of current Webinars in Career Exploration and Career Marketing courses will be replaced with multimedia content.

2.     That the multimedia products will be created and located such that they are accessible to students on mobile devices (e.g. podcasts could be downloaded to Smartphones).

3.     That Career Exploration and Career Marketing courses will have sufficient multimedia content to enable alternate faculty to teach them.

4.     That the Multimedia additions will enhance the learning outcomes of the students.

5.     That CDP faculty will be introduced to the benefits of multimedia and the pedagogical principles of design.
